Celestial Expanse : Wiki

Starting off on StarCivs

[Introduction]

The Celestial Expanse is a Space/SciFi server with Towny, Custom Planets/Orbits, Star Systems, working, player built Movecraft Vehicles (Such as Starfighters, Planes, Tanks and Ships), along with a diverse list of unique Planets, Mechanics, Weapons, Blocks, Mobs, and much more.

[Starting Off]

Beginning on StarCivs, is like a regular Minecraft playthrough; chop down Trees, mine Stone, gather Ores and get better gear. Until you reach Iron Tools, a majority of the Automation and Production technologies are hard to obtain, as they require loads of Iron, Coal, Redstone and Copper.

As such, It is a good idea to stock up on lots of supplies early on, as those may come in handy with producing necessary components of machinery. Cobblestone and Granite is also very handy later-on as you can refine it (Using the custom machinery) into more useful materials.

You start off obtaining Starter Ship which can be spawned-in by placing the "Structure Box" (Barrel), and can be entered through an Elevator-Multiblock on the roof.

The Elevator is beneath the Spruce Trapdoor and is composed of a Quartz Block with a piece of Carpet on top. Crouch/Sneak to go down a level while standing on the Elevator's Carpet; and Jump to go back up. For fuel, the Starter Ship consumes Resonant Crystals contained within a Capacitor Multiblock.

While you can technically play the majority of the Minecraft's base gameplay on this Server without even touching the Custom machinery or Movecraft-Vehicles, but that takes the fun out of the server. There are many ways to speed up production of Coal/Charcoal, Copper, Iron, Gold or even Gunpowder; all through Machines utilizing Resonant Power.

(Resonant Capacitor | Above)

Resonant Power/Crystals can be used to Fuel Vehicle movement, mass-produce Materials, power different Weapons, and much more.

[Basic Movecraft/Vehicle Concepts]

Most Vehicles on The Celestial Expanse have a few commonly shared properties. These include:

  •  A controllable and cyclable Gearshift system, which changes how fast Vehicles move.
    • An example of this could be: At Gearshift One, a Vehicle moves a single block per Movement/Input, while at Gearshift Three a Vehicle would move at three blocks per Action.
  • Engine Blocks are Standard across all Vehicles, and are Redstone Blocks OR Sea Lanterns. They do the same thing, and can be interchanged.
    • If you want to Move a Vehicle, It better have Engine Blocks.
    • Engine Blocks do not need to be exposed for a Vehicle to move/work.
    • If you lose too many Engine Blocks, OR, didn't add enough to your design, you will get a message along the lines of: "Craft Is Disabled".
  • For Lighter/Smaller Crafts (Planes, Starfighers, CargoShuttles, Airships, etc), Wool OR Carpet function as a Reactor/Lift Block. StarLegacy or Horizons End Players can think of these as Concrete Blocks, and are needed in fairly sizable quantities.
  • For Heavier/Larger Crafts (Freighters, Starships, Dreadnaughts, Stations, etc.), Beacons function as a Reactor/Lift Block. StarLegacy or Horizons End Players can think of these thought of as Concrete Blocks, and are needed in smaller quantities.
    • Beacons are MUCH less expensive to craft than in regular Minecraft, and there is no need to kill Withers here.
  • Almost all Vehicles are [Un]Piloted & Controlled via a few Major Functions.
    • The CraftName sign allows you to begin controlling/piloting a Vehicle.
      • Note: that while piloting a Vehicle, you cannot place or break any blocks nearby (within a 3 block radius of the Vehicle).
    • The Compass (Just a regular compass), allows the pilot to move a Vehicle by Right-clicking (holding a compass) while looking in the direction they wish to move.
      • Note: To enter or exit Direct Control, punch with a Compass in your hand. Direct Control makes the Pilot's movements (Walking) move their Vehicle. To move upwards while in Direct Control, Right-click with the Compass; Move downwards Sneak Right-click.
      • Note: To change a piloted Vehicles' Gear Shifts, Sneak Right-click with a Compass you also must not be in Direct Control
    • The [helm] Sign allows a Pilot to Rotate their Vehicle on by Left or Right-clicking it, to turn Left or Right respectively.
    • The Release Sign allows a player to release control of a Craft, and gain the ability to build on/around the Vehicle.
    • To prevent unauthorized access to a Vehicle, add a sign with Pilot: on its first line, and exit out. You should now see your username written on the sign automatically. This prevents anyone aside from the name on the sign, from piloting the Vehicle

[Towny Basics]

  • We utilize Towny as our Claims/Factions plugin, as it is much easier to add custom functionality to, and simply put has far more features than Generic Factions Plugin XYZ.
  • Towny Commands include:
    • /t OR /town (Base Town Command)
    • /n OR /nation (Base Nation Command)
    • /towny (Base Towny Command)
    • /g (Global Chat)
    • /tc (Town Chat)
    • /nc (Nation Chat)
      • More Information can be found on the Wars, Towny & Trade Sectors page.
  • If you need the recipes for crafting custom items and more, use /recipes
  • If you need detailed information on a particular Vehicle-Type, use /pilot

The Resonant Power System

[Quick Links]

An Introduction to Resonant Power

Ways of Making more Resonant Power/Crystals

Uses for Resonant Power/Crystals

Remote/Wireless Power Transfer

RESONANT MACHINES/MULTIBLOCKS

(Resource Pack Required)

The Resonant Power System (First added in the Hybrid & Skygrid Update to The Celestial Expanse) revamps many of the core mechanics of The Celestial Expanse. Including but not limited to: Movecraft Ship Power/Fuel Sources, Ore Smelting, Energy-Weapons, Shield-Fuel Generation, and Supply Production. Vehicles can now be powered off of the more efficient Batteries and Capacitors, AND Furnaces.

Resonant Power/"Electricity" is stored in the form of Resonant Crystals, and can be transferred by hand or otherwise, to and from the previously mentioned, Batteries and Capacitors.

Things to Note About Resonant Power/Crystals:

  • Resonant Crystals CANNOT be crafted or created through conventional means.
  • One way to view Resonant Crystals is as a "solid" form of Electricity.
  • Resonant Crystals, just like Electricity is able to be obtained through specific machines, and is hard to store away efficiently for later usage.
    • As with the sheer quantity of practical uses for Electricity, the usefulness of Resonant Crystals typically outweighs the cost of production and storage.

 (Battery | Above)

Supplies power off of Resonant Crystals/Charge. More expensive than Capacitors with less storage, but also drains slower. Can power a crafts' Movement.

May NOT be layed on its side/horizontally.

Blocks required:

  • Composite Block (Custom Block): 2
  • Dropper (Input/Output/Storage/Activation): 1

Charges at 2 Resonant Crystals per Pulse recieved.

Resonant Cable Summary

  • By Default, Resonant Cable-Blocks can broadcast a maximum range of 100 Blocks, Corners and Splitters lower the Maximum Distance, thus making Power-Substations nessisary.
  • Normal Pistons/Normal Piston Heads act as Corners, but cannot output Resonant Power on thier own, thus needing Resonant Cables.
  • Quartz Pillar Blocks act as Two-Way Splitters, where the Power comes through the side of the Pillar, and then Out the "Top/Bottom" faces.
  • Power Stations are a multiblock which allows for extended range of Resonant Power, via resending the signal when it comes through the back of the Power Station, and out the front of the structure.

Tesla Coils allow for charged/lightning-traps, ambient base defense, and supercharging entities and players with full Golden Armor being worn. The range of a Tesla's AOE is determined by the number of Iron Bars in a 5 Block Radius (10 Block Diameter) around the upper Beacon. Each Iron Bar increases the range by 0.25 Blocks. To activate a Tesla Coil send Resonant Power through Resonant Cables, into the Lowest Gold Block.

Tesla Coils Effects:

  • Wearing Full Leather or Full Diamond Armor negates all Negative AND Positive effects, providing Immunity.
  • Wearing Full Gold Armor negates all negative AND applies Swiftness 2, Regen 2 effects along with Repairing the Gold Armor, providing some Immunity and a Buff. Only works in the Tesla Coils' AOE.
  • Wearing any peice of Netherite or Iron Armor amplifies the damage dealt. Along with this, Netherite Armor will "chain" the effects to surrounding Entities/Players.
  • Standing on/in Gold Blocks or Iron Blocks/Bars/Doors/Trapdoors will always strike lightning, regardless of the Armor worn.
  • Standing on/in Gold Blocks or Iron Blocks/Bars/Doors/Trapdoors will also "chain" the effects to surrounding Entities/Players.
  • Iron Golems will gain Regeneration 1, from Teslas along with "chaining" the effects to surrounding Entities/Players.

PIPELINES & PIPE FILTERS

(Resource Pack Required)

Things to Note About Pipelines:

  • Cannot Transport Resonant Crystals
  • Pipe Filters also work to extend the range of a Pipeline in a given direction.

The Pipeline System allows for Redstone Powered, Bulk Item Transport. Nearly every obtainable item can be carried by a Pipeline.

A single Pipeline's Range can extend up to 127 Blocks without a Filter. And all they need is a Redstone Pulse to send those Items along.

(A Single Pipe-Block | Above)

The most basic unit in a Pipeline. These are inefficient to craft until you configure a Machine Press.

(A Single Pipeline Segment -- No Input / Output | Above)

Quite literally constructed from a line of Pipe-blocks.

(Multiple Pipeline Segments -- No Input / Output | Above)

Utilizes Normal Pistons to send Items around corners and connect different Pipelines.

Normal Pistons function both as Corner and Merger Pieces.

A Pistons Direction determines which way the Items flow. If the Piston is facing Down -- All Pipelines running into that Piston will be directed Down.

Splitting is done with Pipe-Filters (We'll Return to Pipe-Filters later down the line).

(A Pipeline Segment -- With Input / Output | Above x2)

While Powered, if a Piston is facing into a Block which contains (near) any Items -- all Items of the same Type will be pulled through the Pipes behind the Piston.

(A Pipeline Segment -- With Filter | Above)

A Pipeline Filter is very Similar to a Hopper Filter.

  • Place a Beacon into the Pipeline.
  • Put a Wall Sign on any usable side of the Beacon.
  • Write [Filter] on the first line of the Sign

  • Right Click the Sign with the Item you wish to Whitelist/Allow.

Things to Note:

Items that DO Match the Filter, will continue along their Initial Direction.

Any Items that are NOT the type of Item on the sign, will be piped through the Bottom of the Beacon.

It is feasible to create a chain of Beacon-Filters to collect similar items from a Pipeline.

You can only have ONE Filter Sign on a single Beacon-Filter.

Planets & RiftDrives (Warpdrives)

(NOTICE: All worldborders in StarCivs may be checked via /world WorldName)

[PLANETARY WARPING]

Teleporting & Travelling between Planets on StarCivs

This is how a Teleport sign should be formatted.

Teleporting between planets and locations can be a bit difficult, as one needs to have plotted out some coordinates. But nothing is stopping you from teleporting to randomly thought-up Coordinates OR from using the StarMap to plot your course to another World's Orbit

The x,y,z Coordinates is required (No Spaces), as these tell the Vehicle where to teleport to within the Targeted Orbit.

The Teleport: and Coordinates aka x,y,z should always be present on their lines when attempting to Warp.

To Successfully warp/jump to another Planet, you have to target the Planet's designated Orbit World.

Unlike most other remaining Movecraft Space Servers, You Cannot see the Planet within its Orbit, as each Orbit is a world of its own, attached to a Planet.

Use /world to check which Planet or Orbit-World you are in.

Utility Signs & Other Controls

Wiki: Utility Signs & Other Controls

How to Power (RPower) Redstone within your Vehicle, from a sign:

This is how a(n) [RPower] sign should be formatted.
Replace the 2nd through 4th Lines to an easily remembered/short name/description.
[RPower] Signs allow you to toggle/activate any Lever/Stone Button adjacent to the sign.
However, it does not adhere to certain redstone mechanics so the actual power source, the activated Lever/Button, will need to be directly connected to a wire/repeater.

How to Remotely Control Weaponry and other Functionality within your Vehicle, from a sign:

This is how a(n) Remote Sign should be formatted.
Replace the 2nd through 4th Lines to an easily remembered/short name/description.
Remote Signs allow you to control/activate ANY Sign based Mechanism on your Piloted Craft/Vehicle,
Such as [RPower] Signs and Turrets

To use this system:

  1. You must be the pilot of a craft.
  2. The craft must have a sign attached, and the sign's 2nd-4th lines must contain the same text as the sign you wish to activate.
  3. Right Click the Remote Sign

How to (Somewhat) Secure your Items:

Keep your stuff safe from other players/towns with [Private] signs,
Which prevent Normal/Non-Staff Players from accessing your items in a chest/trapped chest/doors/other inventory blocks.

How to (Somewhat) Secure your Craft from being Piloted:

Keep your ship safe from other players with Pilot: signs,
these prevent Normal/Non-Staff Players from accessing the controls of your ship and flying away with it.

How to Remote-Control Weapons and other Functionality within your Vehicle, by Right Clicking a Book Item:

Direct Weapon Control IMG 1

Use a normal Book item.

Rename the Book to what ever is on the sign you wish to activate's 2nd-4th lines.

To use this system:

  1. You must be the pilot of a craft.
  2. The Craft must have a sign attached, and the sign's 2nd-4th lines contain the same text as the Book you named.
  • If there are multiple signs with the same text, it will only activate the first one the system comes across.
  • To get around this, use a Remote Sign (shown in a prior guide).
